Janez Janša Has A Good Friday

Earlier today, Janez Janša was acquitted of abuse of office in a decades-old real estate deal. The prosecution was asking for a two-year prison sentence. Instead the Glorious Leader and two other people walked out of the courtroom free men.

Seeing as this was all taking place on the catholic feast of Good Friday, over the last few days social media in Muddy Hollows was brimming with hyperbole of Janša getting nailed to the cross. The fervently faithful were even comparing him to Jesus, suffering for our sins and such. But in the end, it was just a good Friday for the one true SDS prophet. Becasuse, to put it in the words of Mary Magdalene, he’s just a man.

President Zoran Janković?

President of Serbia, that is. According to reporting by N1, Ljubljana Mayor Zoran Janković was this close to accepting the post of prime minister of Serbia. Apparently, he backed out at the last minute. This was later confirmed by Serbian president Aleksandar Vučić himself.

Following this bombshell, rumours started swirling that Janković remains in the mix for a high-level position in Serbian administration, possibly even as successor to Aca Vučić, when his presidential term expires in 2027. Talk about an exit strategy…

SDS Throws A Pension Tantrum

In a surefire sign that election countdown is well underway in Muddy Hollows, the SDS of Janez Janša launched an all-out offensive against the Golob government. It all has to with pensions and the ferocity makes the Battle of the Bulge look like a walk in the park.

An upside-down SDS placard, a leftover from the protest last week. All because PM Golob said words about pensions on national telly.
Leftovers from the SDS pensions rally

In short succession, The Party called for a referendum on pension bonuses for exceptional artists, staged a mass rally, filed to dismiss a National Assembly VP, demanded a public apology and moved for interpellation of the government, simply because the PM said words on national telly.

Zoran Janković Does A Great Act of Terrible Self-harm

After numerous criminal investigations, parliamentary hearings and more or less organised attempts to form a viable political alternative, it would be more than a little ironic if the person who did the most to oust Zoran Janković as Ljubljana mayor turned out to be… Zoran Janković.

The impressive student protest movement is proving to be the greatest challenge the regime of Serbian president Aleksandar Vučić, As a result, predsedniče Aca is looking for support wherever he can find it. And as if on cue, Zoki sent a fawning letter of support to the embattled Serbian leader. This irked so many people that the seemingly forever-mayor may not actually be forever much longer. Slight panic ensued.

Poklukar Vote Results Make For A Shaky Coalition

Boštjan Poklukar will stay on as minister of the interior. At least for now. With NSi taking the lead, the opposition held his feet to the fire yesterday. But in the end the no-confidence vote fell well short of the mark as only 29 MPs voted for his dismissal.

That said, coalition had its own skibidi moment when they only mustered 35 votes in Poklukar’s support. Meaning that even the GS came up five votes short when supporting their own minister, as SD and Levica said upfront they were going to sit this one out.

Protecting Private Poklukar

Chief of Police Senad Jušić resigned earlier today. And while interior minister Boštjan Poklukar denied it, the move was clearly designed to help save his ass in the upcoming no-confidence vote.

In a bid to save his own ass, interior minister Boštjan Poklukar accepted the - no doubt forced - resignation of Chief of Police Senad Jušić.

SD came out swinging on Monday, saying that Jušić has to go, pronto, and only after that will they consider supporting Poklukar (or not). Not to be outdone in this powerplay, Levica followed suit yesterday, saying pretty much the same thing. While Poklukar can survive both parties’ abstentions, their votes for no confidence would seal his fate.

Social Democrats Start Making Noises

In the latest episode of the epic aboutfuckery that is the LD;GD podcast, pengovsky posited that the next election is 13 months away, at best. But then Matjaž Han of Social Democrats started making noises.

Election legislation provides a timeframe for the next vote and the powers that be will consider things like public and school holidays when deciding on when to vote next. And seeing as PM Robert Golob holds a comfortable majority in the parliament, it seems reasonable to think Muddy Hollows is looking at the next election in late February, early March 2026.
