So, the Russkies are the new ice hockey world champions. Slovenians didn’t even stand a chance, although they showed they can play hockey. They made Slovaks work hard for their victory of 5:4 in overtime, but it was too little too late. In any case, the hosts Canada are this year’s runners-up and I imagine the bitternes in their mouth will linger for quite a while.
To alleviate the pain a bit, today’s MMM features an arstist’s interpretation of Canadian ice hockey legend Bobby Orr. Painted by Kurt Kauper, it was featured many times all over the net, including this piece by the CBC. |

Oh god no! Well, we still have ‘72. Mind you, it’s better than being whupped by the Americans. Now that would leave a bitter taste.
