ADDENDUM :

Right after I sent in this post, news came that Leterme was in hospital with an intestinal bleeding. He was operated on and will probably be allowed to leave Intensive Care tomorrow. The guy apparently does everything to insure he won't be PM by March 23rd, because he'll be out for at least six weeks. The reactions of both his esteemed colleagues and the media was for the most part hilarious to sometimes bordering on the ridiculous, because politicians generally don't know how to handle such events and the media is of course looking for juicy quotes, even if they hav to instigate them. For example, one VRT journalist asked VLD minister Karel De Gucht, a heavy hitting Letere critic and aiming for new elections : "This would suit some people, wouldn't it?" De Gucht's, visibly irate, rebuttal : "Such questions shouldn't be asked! We have a deontological code to adhere to and I believe the press does too." Yup, it just doesn't get dull over here.
