@ Pengovsky: I wasn't at all implying that your translation is bad. Just that the relations are a bit complicated. :)

Thanks! :oops:

Mummy's sweethearts, you say... Dunno. I certainly would consider myself one... But I guess you could argue that there is a statisticially disproportionate number of residents of "Hotel Mamma" among Slovene males. Much like Italians :D

Actually, I am going to issue a verbal translation certificate for you, Pengovsky: your translation captures the wit of it all really beautifully!

But I have been wondering about the Slovenians part: a friend of mine (she is Slovenian and really old, like me) once said she didn't fancy the idea of having a Slovenian partner: "They are all just Mummy's Sweethearts." She did get one, in the end, though, but I haven't talked to her for ages so I wouldn't know whether she was talking wisdom or bias at that time.

@ Dietmar: Yes, translated by a Slovenian into English to make things even more complicated. :)

Think rather the love-hate relationship between English and Scots, or between Ljubljana and Maribor :D

@Sunshine:
Hmm, at least it was translated by a Slovenian... :-)

@Pengovsky:
sounds like there are - erm - antipathies between Croatians and Dalmatians? Is there such a difference? Hasn't Dalmatia been Croatian for ages now?

Dunno :) The original seems highly Croatian :) But then again, it favours Bosnians and Dalmatians as well :)
